Traded a CBG for this old Tenor (four string)

Solid spruce top. No brand name or markers. One bad tuner that I replaced. The rest are stiff and may be replaced. New strings. Some issues with the pins and holes that hold the strings, but that problem is overcome for now.Plays and sounds about as good as I think a four sting can. Will most likely electrify later on.Small necks are the best for my bad hands and this is of course smaller than a six string neck.BONUS - I rate a 5- 6 on six string and at least a 7 on a four string. :)Will use this at home and at local jams where the CBGs lack volume with lots of players. This one is loud enough to hold its own.

  • That looks good, Bug.  Yup.  Sound hole if I do electrify it.

2 bits of wood some old 6" nails one run nails several thousand winds of copper 0.42 and 4 ni magnets

  • OOOH NICE TRADE....sound hole, pup dont drill it...

  • Thanks, Richey and Wes.     I like playing it DGBE so far.   Pretty nice action on it after I put a new saddle on.   Right now, it's a bit low for slide.  I played it too much yesterday.  Hand is throbbing today.   But I am going to play it a bit anyway.

  • It looks gorgeous John, I kinda want one now. I think my next build might have to be a 4 string...
  • Nice room, lighting and stuff.   Yup, I clicked on the vid and saw and listened.  Nice.

Sorry, I forgot about that one.  I guess I was not tenor crazy at the time.

Yeah, ADF#,   I use it too.   Good idea.  Easy change back and forth from GDg.

  • Thanks, Clock.  I would like to see your tenor.   I bet it sounds great in a 3 string.  GDg?

I'm starting to watch ebay for a low price high action tenor for open tuning,  Probably GDgB,   The tenors are a bit scarce and overpriced for what they are,

I need to get rid of a few CBGs and a six string.   Traded the one CBG today, and sold one last week.

  • Fun!

Republic Guitars makes a nice tenor resonator... although I adapted mine into a 3 string :-o

  • LOL, Jim.   You so humble.  I am sure you are at least a 3 on a 1 string.   (And a pretty high number for being a multi-instrumentalist.    I kind of wanted to be a multi-instrumentalist too, but I can not pronounce it or spell it.
