Thrift Shop Score!

Stopped by a local thrift on the way home from work yesterday. Got a pair of these Realistic Minimus-7 speakers that have a 4" woofer and 1-1/2" tweeter with coil wound crossover in a cast aluminum case with metal grill. These suckers are HEAVY! (4 lbs. each). Also picked up 4 other speakers (unknown brand) and a working combination Cassette-AM-FM-CD-R/RW player all for $20! Cha-ching!!!!!

  • Good tip, Glenn!

  • Nice. And cheap! Nice and cheap :) So, you likely know this and others here may as well, but you can also grab up the larger cassette recorders (sometimes with 4 or larger inch speakers) and simply take the two leads from the record head, solder a 1/4 inch input to em, and when you plug in, hit record with no cassette in it and you got an amp, in fact a cooking distorted one... cheap. Works on all sorts of casstte recorders with or without headphones. But you can find these cassette recorders at garage sales for 50 cents to a buck. Have a great Thanksgiving! -Glenn
