Wont be doing this detail again is a hurry!Had to drill seperate holes to get the strings to hold position, how on earth do you do this detail and keep the strings aligned?

    You can cut or file grooves in the nut, for the strings to ride in. This will help keep 'em separated. BTW, there are cheap commercial tuners, like those used on classical guitars, that have the hole already drilled in the tuning peg:

    You can also use a threaded bolt (many people here use the 1/4" x 20) for a nut; the threads plus string tension help keep the strings aligned. Some builders also use a variety of string trees (screws, very small eyelet screws, or actual string trees) to help guide the string to their proper tuning machine.
  • That looks ace, and I like your inventive solution to your problem. I just made a neck like that, but I added a nut (or in my case, a bolt) that held the strings in the correct line.
