  I used pop rivets and took out the center rod. Drilled a hole and just tapped them in. Beveled the bottom of the tail piece and drilled through at an angle so the string break wouldn't be too severe. That way the rivet face is flush.

  Can use the rivets on top or bottom or both. I've done it all three ways.

  I like this tailpiece. These rivets? Did you put rivets on underside as well and if so did you drill straight through?
