Papa. I have had that happen too. 3 solutions: 1. use small washers, top and bottom, glued is best. 2. Pop rivets, top and bottom. 3. and my favorite, use a hinge as a tail piece-- check out some of my photos. I hope that black and white shot of you child prodigy makes it to a Tee shirt!
