  • I used to transfer images with Toluol, a potent solvent for printing ink. The image is flopped as in wood block prints. Position a printed image on paper or canvas or wood ink side down, brush on the solvent and rub the back all over with a spoon. It works mighty good. Lighter fluid works too. Your method is great! Fun stuff!

  • Dave,

I forgot to mention this: DO NOT - DO NOT use wax paper in your printer, as it won't work and will likely jam up to such a degree the printer will be useless, as found out by experience :-(

The waxy side of shipping label paper works great ....

  • Dave,

#1: buy shipping labels from Office Depot. or wherever

#2:the full page size where you can peel off the label material

#3:and toss the label side in the trash.....

#4: take the remaining waxy side & place in printer with with waxy side up

#5: print image on the waxy side

#6:CAREFULLY lay waxy side w/image on wood

#7: CAREFULLY & without moving waxy paper, you rub fingers over paper thus transferring image ... Once I figured out the process, a few practice runs were made on scrap wood

.... if you move the paper the image will smear.... but the result is nice if done with care... take a look at the image on the other solid bodies I have done.....

    hope this helps :-)

  • Do you print directly on the wood or on a transfer film or paper? You sure got a Good image.

  • Well done.

  • Hey Dave,

Thanks .... but the wolf is a print transfer I figured out how to do from a printer, after destroying 1 printer trying to figure out the process .... :-) ... the new printer works just fine !

  • Good drawing Shamrock!
