  Those were early builds, that is rock maple and it holds up very well. I use real bone nut these days. HOwever if I were in a bind and ran out of bone- I wouldn't hesitate to use the maple again. The sound is the same, bone or maple. Bone just files so even  and smooth, a pleasure to work with, oh yeah and the bone looks better.

  What kind of wood is the nut, and how well does it hold up?  Do you find that the strings cut into the wood?  Very nice work by the way.
