Scarf joint view. Walnut neck. The extra wood between the neck and fret board moves the fret board easily above the box top, and gives a bit more strength as well.

Jerry, yes. The neck is a bit thick. Not as much as it seems in this view. But, I think that helps prevent bowing with the heavier strings.

is it just me.,.,? this neck looks a little thick.,.not a problem if you've got big hands.....
