  • The cat-head sides are from a template found in the book, "Handmade Music Factory: The Ultimate Guide to Making Foot-Stompin' Good Instruments" by Mike Orr. The book also has a nice set of fret templates (I used one for this instrument... before doing so I compared to the frets on a pineapple ukulele I own, they matched perfect. The image on the head is from a paper overly that was inside the Romeo y Julieta cigar box... I believe I got the idea from a photo in Mike Orr's book. The little "eye" (lower center) keeps the one string from hitting the lower right tuning peg. I've seen photos of others using those eyes... others have used screws, nails, little brackets, etc.
