Hey John. There were three small soundholes between the two chrome soundholes. that area was cut away and the pickup installed. You can buy a jack end pin that can double as a strap pin so no drilling required there.
The only other drilling was for a volume control but you could use an external volume pot if you didnt want to drill the body. You DONT need to use a preamp.

did the geet have to drilled out to make it fit and jacksocket installed? also do you have to use a preamp to boost it ?
