An old wash basin I found at the antique store. It's porcelain over steel and about 12 3/4" across and 3 3/4" deep. I have some ideas but would like to hear some suggestions on building a guitar using a wash basin from my CBG bros here.

You could use screws to fasten a thin wood top. Or metal, hmm. Or zip ties.
My friend Tony just got an antique bed pan made of enameled metal. Drilling and cutting it will be a problem. I think i’d Grind spots through the enamel where I wanted to drill holes.
I made a bunch of banjos out of wood dough bowls. They worked great but the rounded bottoms made them slide off your lap. A strap fixes that but I like not to have a strap. Nut bowls with a more square side worked better for me. I suggest putting the bowl in a box for playing comfort. A reso could work great in your bowl.
Envisioning a four string guitar. Guess I'll have get set up to do frets and scarf joints now. Ah well I'd have had to do it sooner or later anyway.
I'm thinking of cutting a circle out of the back of an old junk classical guitar I have for the soundboard. How to attach it is what has my brain twisted. Screws? Epoxy? That porcelain is tough stuff to drill. Wonder if a carbide bit would do the deed?
I just looked on ebay and there were quite a few similar items. Some that had been the collection area for potty chairs! I was too cheap to bid. But you have me thinking to be on the watch for one of those.
Hunh. I kind of wish I had one like that. I never thought about using one before. I would try and go with a banjo with a neck through and a thin wood top. It could be guitar too, of course. Or a dandy hat.
I did two big box guitars with pot lids made of similar material but not such a deep bowl. Cut out the top of the box and used them like resonators. It took some extra planning to have the string height come out right. Both of mine looked cool to me, but as I remember, one was thick and had poor sound and one, the neck started to bow on me. I salvaged both and still have the pot lids hanging in the shop.
Maddog made one or more from pot lids and big boxes. I got to try one and it was pretty darn good.
Good wishes. And oh, I think that stuff is hard to cut if you plan to cut it. Maybe use a grinder wheel/cutting disc - like if you would do a neck through.
