Poison Ivy Violin

Made in CB style but with custom box. Bois d'Arc fingerboard and saddle. Box is quarter sawn fir. Volume is good. Sound seems fine but then I've never even stroked a violin, much less played one. At least it's a start.

    Well I'm not a fan of Poison Ivy but I would gladly walk through a whole patch of it to try this Poison Ivy Vio out. Very nice Ron!!!

    I know it's hard to get everything lined up for the scale length so you know exactly where your bridge will be before working out the intonation. I screw up all the time with that. I've made most every mistake i can with my builds. That's how i've learned a little. It's what makes our efforts unique and homemade. And we're not factories making the same thing over and over again. Each one of our builds is different. Your fiddle is very good looking. I've not seen a prettier fingerboard and i'm an old guy. Great work Ron...

    I think maybe I glued the top on too far in the wrong direction.

    It started out with intents to lining up, but something happened along the way.  Didn't even notice until I was measuring the 13" for the scale length and, oops - how'd that happen? By then everything was glued down. My little  soundpost ended up too far back from the bridge as a result.

    Thanks for compliment on everything.  I thought the fingerboard turned out looking like I envisioned.

    Beautiful fingerboard. Beautiful everything. One thing to consider for next time. Traditionally, the f holes line up with the bridge exactly where the little points in the middle of the f line up. It's a tradition often broken in electric arch top guitars. In violins the f holes always line up.
