  • Thank you for the compliment Rooster!

  • Thanks Richey, I always enjoy reading your tips and how to's.....................you're a very talented player and builder :)

  • Thanks Darryl, appreciate it.
  • Looks very sharp Richey

  • ...and by 'give it a try' I meant a straight Strat-style neck. If I was to try a neck angle I think I would shim my neck pocket template slightly at the back so the router cuts a gently sloped surface.
  • Thank you Rooster. No, there is no back angle on this one, although it is something I usually do on all my builds. I thought as this was my first solid body I would give it a try. I still managed to get a nice low action (2.5mm at the 12th) and combined jumbo frets with low strong tension. It plays very easily. If I had introduced neck angle on this build I would have had to shim the bridge.
  • Very nice work.........did you put any back angle to the neck or is it straight with the body?

  • Thanks 162. You don't know the trouble I've had with the colour. I used a red-tinted oil finish at first and ended up sanding it off to get back to the natural. Glad I did it though :-)

  • Very nice Richey, great choice to leave natural, the colors are perfect!
  • it sure did ,I'll have a look at that....thanks
