  Less likely to bow the neck the way you have done it.  Worth the effort.  Sometimes I drill some holes side to side in the wood inside the box to 'help move the sound around.   But keep it strong.  I think it helps to cut out a bit of wood directly under the saddle to let the too vibrate.  Good wishes.

  Thanks, guys.  It's poplar that I picked up from the home improvement store when I was there getting supplies for an emergency plumbing repair (on Dec. 26th in a snow storm).  I figure it should be plenty strong for just a 3-stringer; maybe even overkill.
