This is a steel plate but there's a magnet pup sitting directly between the two Hs. Never tried this but it doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Sounds great.

"Nice Larry", a lot to like about this one, the 'rugged look' the 'bridge screws', 'the sound holes', and particularly the Magnetic Pup under the Plate, I recently did the same thing with a Tin Diddley Bow, and like you had no problems and it also sounds great.
