Notched and ready

After I notched the neck, I sanded and re-stained the notch. Yeah I know nobody can see it but I know its there.

  • A brace piece could be glued under the neck through next time Poorness. I often add wood under my notches for strength.

  • Just uploaded another pic showing a close up of the notch. You can see it a lot better in the pic.

  • It is my first attempt though, so we'll see how well it works. Hopefully I didn't blow it.

  • I think it looks thinner in the pic than in reality. Keep in mind the fretboard sticks up about 1/4" past the top of the neck plank so the actual neck notch starts at the bottom of the fretboard. I agree that it looks deeper than it is in the this photo though.

  • That is nice work and not to rain on your parade, but the wood looks a bit thin ...   I hope it holds straight and true.  Keep in mind that I tend to build 20 pound CBGs.  ;)
