Thanks! Yes, I've been experimenting with soundholes there... the flange reinforces the tin against nuckling by the string tension, reducing damping, and if you notch the base of the bridge to straddle the soundhole cover tightly - it stops the bridge moving side to side however hard you strum!
Mind you, it makes sticking a piezo under there a bit awkward!!!
