In this photo, you can see how the three tuners are mounted inside the sound box. You can also see how the neck was mounted with a "thru the box" board mounted below the level of the tuners into which the neck was bolted using three wood screws. The little wedge of wood there supplies a small "down" angle on the neck so the strings will meet the bridge at a nice angle (provides better play "action").

  • Well, I've said before that I have problems sawing straight lines. In this case the wedge I used was sawed at a weird angle and that's the reason it was inserted kitty-corner in the photo shown above. I also cut off a wedge shaped piece from the top side of the tail end of my neck so that when I tilt the neck down 2 or 3 degrees, the neck will still be clear of the sound board.
