  • Yeah ,"J.Rob" I have a couple and past a couple more up the other day for a few other boxes I have been wanting to add to the "Cigar Box Collection" ,but yeah ,The music notes are cool ,both on the outside and inside the box lid which is expected of Avo being a Music guy his self ,but I have a few really nice AVO boxes ,I don't know if you seen the 90th anniversary box made to look like a record player? I also have a red/blue one ,but really been looking for the "Box covered in stimulated vinyl " looks just like a record w the A.V. logo in the center. Looks pretty cool and long enough for a six string build ,but as far as this box "1st CBG attempt"! It now hassound holes ,antique looking corner protectors and the neck is almost complete ,so It won't be much longer before I post the end result pic. Anyways thanks for the complement ,I had some setbacks ,but its coming along pretty good!
  • looking good!

Picked up an orange box like this about two years ago
thought the music notes looked cool.
Noticed this one has music notes too.

Cant wait to see your video!

  • I will upload a video of me playing ,but had some set backs waiting on tunning keys and wasn't quite sure if my neck & this box lid was going to be strong enough ,but I will definitely upload a video of me playing. Soon as I'm finished and get everything down pat. Now I could upload a video of me playing my Gibson acoustic ,but didn't make it ...lol ;)
  • Clean and good looking. Will you load up a video with you playing?

  • :)

  • Thanks for the advice & kind words "uncle john" I have played music for as long as i can remember being my dad was a drummer that got me into music @ a real young age 1st drums ,then I picked up guitar when i was about 10 then last ,but not least bass guitar ,but ill definitely take a look @ the 3&4 string tuturiols u talked about. I've only played 6,7,8 string guitars & 4&5 stringBass. Thanks again
  • Yup.   Good looking box and build.

  • Very good start! Make sure to take plenty of photos as you progress. I made 3 or 4 instruments before I started documenting anything and can't really remember what all I did!

  • Thanks Gary W ,I'm sure I've made and will make more mistakes to learn from ...lol. Until I met you guys on here and become a member of CBN "I didn't have any advice to point me in the right direction & this group " CBN" is great. I will definitely post pictures when its done and as far as boxes "I have a few boxes by " Drew Estate " that are big ,heavy/Sturdy built boxes & even better they look great & those are being saved for a later build ...lol didn't want to practice or use my best boxes for my first CBG ,but the Avo box I'm using does have good sound to it ,,,anyways Tanks again & I'll post more pics when finished.
  • Great start, J.D.!  Part of building CBG's is turning those mistakes into features!  these are great boxes, too!
