  • Ah - Objects in photo are smaller than they appear. Take a look at a 5/64th hole. The hangers I use are thin enough to fit in. And I make sure they are completely flat against the neck and therefor all the same height. I will post a video this week of one being played.

  • I've used coat hangers for frets on my last 5 or so builds and they are working great. They are actually lower or equal to any of the frets on my actual guitars (I do have to go through several hangers to find thin ones, the dry cleaner/covered in paper tend to be the ones that work). When I string it up, any fret that buzzes I tap with a hammer at the buzzing spot and fix the problem. I have a scrap piece of wood with a 5/64th hole that I insert the hook end in to see if it fits. The hangers that are too thick will fit in a 3/32nd hole, I have used this thickness on two guitars that are meant to be played slide, yet you can play them freted with no problems (on a uke, yes, the thicker hanger would bend the note)

  • So, Dwayne...how does she sound? Are these frets problematic? They look high and thick. Fretting notes might bend the notes out of pitch, not cut the strings accurately, and your intonation will sound off. ??? Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your new build, Keni Lee
