i did used a dremel aswell Glenn !!!
actually the lid is not that thin on this box,
but the F hole are so big that i had to X-brace it to make sure
it will take the presure from the strings & bridge without bending !!!
I've had to do that too on Fonseca boxes that had a thin lid. Didn't affect volume - in fact at that time they were the loudest boxes I'd made.
How do you cut yours? I used a drill then a Dremel.

i like them too but i had to reenforce the lid so it does not bend !!!
