My second project, first mandolin (a four stringer) and first electric. It looks better than it sounds, so take that for what it's worth. Named it "Li'l Hotrod," which is slightly more creative than my first build's working name, CBG1.

I see what you mean. Dave, short scale instruments like this are a lot tougher to have come out good than a long scale cbg. Also it seems to help me to have a longer head stock to get more angle. It's a learning process and sometimes for me, a forgetting and re-learning process.
Thanks Uncle John. I think the problem is actually in the nut, not the bridge. The tuners sit too high and don't hit the bridge at enough of an angle. That's why there are eye bolts in the head (you can see them if you look closely). I used a hack saw to put some grooves in the saddle (which is an antique drawer handle), so I think there is good "string break" there. Nonetheless, it'd be easy enough to slip a bolt in there and try it.
Looks great. You kind of imply it does not sound as good as it looks. That saddle is cool lookng, but very well could be part of the porblem. It's hard to get good even string break with something like that. Try a bolt?
