Craig: Very nice looking build. I too, have had the 'twangy' experience, and I discovered that whenever I used a metal saddle on the bridge, I got a more metalic sound. So, I now use only wood or ceramic and it helps. You may want to play with the amp reverb and treble adjustments, too, as this could have effect on the sound result. Just my unskilled observations. both. I like being able to use both techniques. just trickier getting the action right: high enough for the slide but still frettable. so far I'm happy with the playability. The small box seems to make it a bit twangy, though, esp. on the high string.
