This fretboard is actually a thin piece of black walnut! Plays like a dream, too! We were cutting some fretboards and the blade happened to be set WAY to thin the first time, and this beautiful peace was the result. The blond edges were pieces that had been killed/eaten by beetles. Nice coating of Tung oil or Lemon oil and this baby perked right up!
