Hubcap

Homebuilt "resonator' style acoustic with a 60's AMC Rambler hubcap for a resonator cone. single coil pickup and piezo in the bridge biscuit. Using both pickups gives a real sexy acoustic tone. 1/8 inch birch plywood top, 1/4 inch pine sides. Hand formed/polished bridge cover plate from sheet steel. I actually really liked the way this one came out. Always room for improvement though. sold this to a fellow in Tennessee. fun little project that came out really nice.

  • In my head, these factory neck sixes are cool but a different genre than CBGs.   That said,  I plan to do one soon and I am getting some good ideas from this one.   I am hoping for a louder than cbg build to play some at jams, etc. where my unplugged cbgs lack volume to keep up

  • That did turn out real nice, Chris. No need to worry about improvements, those are really a subjective moment of reason. In my experience, even the one's that end up in the scrap heap are success stories, because we learn with each build. Great stuff.
