This is a close up of how simple Herschel Brown's original canjoe was made. The nut is a piece of wood. The nut materials now used to build modern canjoe instruments have changed over the years and are all adaptations for improvements that have been discovered and implemented by CanJoe*John. Herschel also modified his later instruments after collaboration with CanJoe*John on improvement designs.
