Hey Jason, the lap steel is the easiest build possible. Most of them are just one plank of wood with pockets routed in for controls and the pickup. My band saw, belt sander and router do everything i need along with a drill and dremmel. There are some nice pickups available at low prices. I'd say, build one!
Hey Bluesheart, I've got to stop! Now I have 5. I love each one of them. I like those old Hawaiian tunings and the mellow old pups on them. I'll be making a number of simulations from the 5 i have.
