Hi Gary. yes just made shallow cuts with my skill saw and then opened out the slots with a small triangular file. Superglued them in. I filed off the sharp ends then finished up putting twin core electrical wire as binding. All held in place by Superglue!

Jim - did you cut troughs in the fretboard and glue the rods in place? Nice concept!
