  • Actually, I think that's exactly what I did wrong; I don't have a neck block, and also, The neck doesn't go all the way through to the end of this box.  It's kind of wonky on this build,  The one I'm working on now is a stick-through model, but I'm nervous because it's on a cardboard cigar box.  I've re-enforced the corners with wood blocks, so I think it should be ok. Thanks for the pointer on that.  That is how I can fix this one.  I appreciate it!

  •  Many of my builds haven't been 'Stick-through' either-if the sides and back of the box are strong enough you can get away with just a neck block.

If you ever want to lower the action on this one back to a Fingerstyle player though-i'd recommend removing the strings, adjust the action back to where you want it, then clamping and gluing two thin hardwood slats to each side of the neck and down the back interior of the box for a twin Vertical Brace towards the  tail-in essence turning into a 'Semi-Neck-Through' with nearly no loss of actual interior space.

Or just enjoy it as is and build more....many, MANY more, Bwahahaha.....

  • yep, it is.  I think the photo doesn't show everything.... on purpose, lol.  Some mistatkes I made was that the neck doesn't go all the way through, and the strings are attached to the box, so it bows a bit.  I have turned it into a slide CBG.  It works pretty well though.  To be honest, I'm pretty excited about number 2.

  • That's....your FIRST build?

    (seethes with jealousy)

    (:D)

Can't wait to see Number Two...

  • @AGP, You're right! I've already started on my second build. Pretty excited to play what is going to be built.
  • Hi Aaron Green,  I like this quite a lot.  The vintage looking box and that clean white neck.  I think I would do one thing.  Get some barn red and black acrylic paint and rustify the metal pieces showing on the box.   For a new 3 string player, google knotlenny's CBG101.  It got me started and rolling along playing fretless 3s.

  • Nice Clean & Simple 1st Build, probably the start of an CBG Building Addiction ??

    :-)
