Cheap raw fiddle conversion to a hardanger, with sympathetic strings running under the fingerboard. Cut off the head, leaving a slot of the original pegbox. Fashioned a paddle head with a tongue to go into the pegbox stump. Two #2 wood screws for added assurance. This is right off the advice from Dennis Havlena's site on cool homemade instruments.
