Ebonized maple fretboard

I used a 1/4" plug cutter in the drill press to produce some really nice looking fret dots. Easy to do and easy to install. My new favorite thing.Although it is slotted this will be fretless as I am planning on filling the slots with maple veneer. There were some flaws in the fretboard that had to be filled with epoxy, and I wouldn't use it on anything really nice, so rather than throw it away, I made it black. I stained the maple with Mohawk black penetrating stain and then dark red mahogany penetrating stain, followed by another application of black. Before drilling for the markers I sprayed one coat of pre catalyzed satin lacquer and after the markers were leveled with a razor sharp chisel I sprayed 3 more coats.
