Man, you guys are reading my mind from thousands of miles away. Somebody gave me an old busted fiddle with a cool wooden case that I've decided should be an instrument. I'll get right on it!
Cool. Dave (below) and I have done this too. Funny timing. I traded for a guitar today and it came with a pasteboard case. I have too many cases and not enough room. I decided even before seeing this that I would do similar using the case.

A cool shelf you can take off the wall and wail with. Better remove the breakables first.
Good luck on those wood cases, guys. Danny went a nice extra step by decorating the inside of this one.
They would make a nice tommy gun case. It would be kind of cool if you opened up your guitar and there was a fiddle inside.....
