Dogbowl

My first attempt at a guitar build. a 'prototype' if you will, for the Hubcap, which came out 100 times nicer than this one. This one uses a steel dog bowl as a resonator, and a Squier neck. single coil Ibanez pickup makes it squeal. 2x4's for body sides and 1/4 inch plywood for top and bottom make it a serious heavyweight. Gets lotsa laughs from lotsa folks in public. Definitely worth the experience.

  • Thank you sir. Haha as for the laughing, it's totally in a good way. People are totally blown away by the plywood box that sounds like a guitar. I oughtta post a picture of it in it's current incarnation, with homebuilt Bigsby style tremolo and built in amp.

  • Let them laugh, Chris. Too many people are fixed on the myth that to be a real guitar, it must follow the confines of a factory-made replica of the other 100 made that day on a CNC machine.

In my opinion, the hand made guitars that we make will out shine those other clones in the long run. Keep on keepin' on...
