  Thanks Jim, Jerry, Maddog. It's playing very nice. I spent some quality time on setup to good effect. I have to work on the tacking technique. Some of the tacks cut the skin with their edge. Doesn't seem to bother the tightness or spread up near the rim. But it doesn't inspire confidence. Tony used cut nails (carpet tacks) for his with less trouble cutting the skin. Think I'll try them next time. I like how my dough bowl worked. It has a pretty tone.

  Yes you are, and your's is fretless. Tony just made a fretless banjo. It's beautiful. Photos to come when I catch him.

  Thanks AGP. I never did put any of the shims in. It's tight and plays great so I guess they would be cosmetic. One screw in the tail holds it together. My tack job is "tacky" to say the least. Still have to knock some tight. When doing the tacking on wet hide I cut through the hide on several tacks. The edges are sharp. It still holds together fine so maybe it ain't to bad. It sounds like a good banjo. Video to come. :^)
