Walnut back with maple stripe, access for controls; pickup inserts from the top. There is a 1/4" carbon fiber kite spar glued into a channel under the fingerboard.

I was guessing that it would be a good idea - so far, so stiff. I had some 1/4" tubes left over as replacements, fit right into a routed slot in the neck. You could try here:

is this a readily available neck reinforcement material? ie do you buy them or is there a half kite somewhere that will never fly again ??
