  • I'll be watching with much interest. :)

  • Actually, looking back over my reply below, I made a mistake. The mount off to the left of the black cap will NOT hold the shop vac hose. It holds the lead screw support bearing. I haven't gotten the lead nut mount bolted on yet (ran out of machine screws,) and that threw me off a bit. The mount on the top of the Z Axis hangs to the left and right of the Z Axis centerline. The Z Axis stepper motor will mount to the left side, and the right side will be drilled out to let the shop vac hose pass through. One of the first things I cut out for it will be a dust collection "shoe" that will mount to the bottom of the router. The shop vac hose will mount to it.

  • Thanks very much, Al. The black cap is just there to hold the Z Axis up off the table for the picture. The little mount off to the left, just above the cap will eventually be drilled to accept the hose from my shop vac for dust collection. The router will mount to the 4 open holes above that black cap, just above the 2 bottom holes.

  • Very Cool Rusty. I've been wanting to do something similar but haven't quite got there yet. Copy Carver is what I was most interested in. I assume the black cap floats across the original object and a router sits on the base just above to the left?
