I just had to do something different to the wooden dowl pegs, so this is it. I really don't want to go down the more modern route of buying machine heads as my own personal thoughts are that I want to keep as raw as possible for the whole build, this is also why its fretless.

Wow that was quick, Ive just finish posting and updating my pictures.
In answer to your question:
'No', however if I couldn't get the strings to tighten up then I was going to drill a hole, but so far i've not needed to. I had the neck in a vice so that I could have both hands free (I was alterating it anyway) but just simply wraped the string around the bolt tighten the wing nut so the bolt dosen't move then tighten the nuts.
