Well, it's glued now. It wasn't snug enough to hold it's own, but I still have room to add screws if necessary. I might have to anyway, as I used what I had on hand (Elmer's Carpenter's Glue) instead of springing for Titebond or something that might have worked better. I'll find out shortly how well the glue joints hold up. Like you said though, it shouldn't be that bad. Uke tensions are pretty light, being in the 30lb neighborhood instead of the 80 (classical) and up for steel strings.
If the neck fits snuggly in there, and you're going to leave the box top unglued, why not just use a couple screws and skip the glue entirely? That's sort of what Taylor does on all their guitars. Nylon strings won't pull very hard. AND, if it doesn't work, you can always glue it later.
Neck block is glued in place. Should I add screws? Or is there enough surface area for glue alone? There's a tiny gap between the block and the neck so I have some "wiggle room" for setting neck angle. Should I shim it, or will the glue be enough? And yes, I just asked about Gorilla Glue for this part. Thoughts?
