Hello Dan, Thanks for the kind words. The bands are glued down (not recessed) with a thin film of Titebond II and then coated with two very light coats of Tru-oil. Built this one as a gift for a beautiful redhead and the last time I saw her (the uke that is) there was no appreciable wear on the bands. Probably will be with heavy playing, but very easy to replace. Happy building!
