Guitar Center happened to have these tuners for $20 a set. They looked cool for the cigar box design. I was going to do the pilot holes to screw in the little wood screws, then thought of punching in these gold thumbtacks...easier and they reflect like gold hubcaps. Cool. I liked the design on the end of the tuner piece too.

You neck looks to be about 3/4" thick. Is it a laminated neck, or a single piece of hardwood. A laminated neck might be a bit stronger. Also, adding a fretboard will thicken the neck and make it stronger. Something you might consider.
