The initial idea was to screw the hinge through the box, into the neck. But with the neck being thinner to allow the lid to resonate, there wasn't enough material to hold the hinge securely. I shaved down a piece of poplar that came from the neck and screwed it into the support braces glued inside the box. Then I screwed the hinge into the block. The overlap of the hinge was just...the way it is baby.
