Thank you, that is good to know. This is all new to me as I have never even held a guitar. I will try that next time.
You got a whole lot right. You strung the strings from the inside like on a factory guitar and many folks think that is preferred. But I and many others do not mind stringing from the outside (the wrong side) for a straighter shot.
