CBG 23 - Redeemed - Padron 5000

This is a Padron 5000 with the bottom of the box being the top of the guitar. Lettering and crosses are burned in with a wood burner. The ground in the scene is a darker stain. Looks good. Sounds great!

  • Excellent. You're correct...nice sound plugged up or unplugged.

  • Thanks Uncle John.  I was going to give building a break, then made this.  I guess I'm hooked!  ;)

  • Wonderful.  God bless.

  • So here is my solution:  Roughed up the box and glued some pegs in place.  The pegs are match sticks but I think this will do the trick.  I will wait until tomorrow to string it up to let the glue set.

  • Good luck with it. Post a sound clip when you're done.

  • Yes.  I was considering super glue.

Since it took 12 hours for the thing to pop off, I am confident that I am close to getting it to work.

  • That'll help.

You might also consider wiping the underside of the rosewood with some acetone (or mineral spirits, etc.) to get rid of the natural oils before you glue it also. Or maybe use a poly glue or CA.

  • I used Titebond II.  It looks like the glue did not adhere to the box due to the finish.

I will rough it up a little and try again.  ;)

  • Love the look. Artwork and bridge are very nice.

Out of curiosity, what kind of glue did you use? Rosewood is one of those tropical hardwoods that often doesn't do well with water-based glues (e.g., Titebond).
