The neck is quilted maple and almost too hard to cut, so I thought it would be safe to go down to 5/16"s. I can reinforce it no problem. I appreciate your interest. JT

Comment by Uncle John on January 22, 2022 at 3:01am: Nice work, but I think I should say, much too thin through the box - it sure might bow on you. Just glue up a strengthening board from the butt to an inch or so above where the neck gets thick.
