I wonder if you could steam the lable off. This might sound strange, but I have a Presto pressure cooker that takes a valve (with a small tube) on the lid and if I were to ill the pot with water, if I could steam the lable carefully off. I know the wood is very old and dry and I don't know what type of glue these were put on with, but it might work, what do you think?
I have one of those with a slightly different picture on the inside - sharp, bright colors and "notice the hole in the head." It's glued on pretty firmly, but I've tried to find a way to photograph, copy, or scan it to put on the outside of the box. No luck yet, but it's a shame it has to be hidden away inside.
