Yes (the metal peice) it's a tring tee of sorts, keeps it away from the 1st string tuner. An old brass curtain rod holder made a nice nut/guide for the strings. the shelf bracket core of the neck is very stable and runs through the body. thanks for looking!
Right inventive !! Is it support high strings tension, without breaking ??? it' happened to me at the begining, cause of the head's sharpness, or stuck head, but i see you put a metal piece. (i hope you understand, i tried my best i used all my English on this one :) !! )
