Here you can se the way the can is pinched into the wood frame. The frame is just like a picture frame and pinches the can securely all around. The neck doesn't pierce the can. It bridges it off the frame. The bridge is like a hurdle straddling the neck. I cut out the neck a little to clear the bridge better.
