Canjo-01

This is typical of my early canjos. Just a can on a stick with a ukulele tuner and a single steel wire string. The frets are tie-wraps. The position of the frets was "tuned" using a digital tuner. Works okay as a personal instrument, but lacks volume and the soft nylon frets tend to mute the instrument as well. The fretwork is diatonically spaced and it plays like the melody string (string 1) of my stick dulcimer. However, my stick dulcimer (strum stick) has a lot more volume. It also sounds very "tin-ny". I haven't been doing much with canjos lately because I have a fair supply of cigar boxes now, and I like their tone better than the can resonators.
