Blue Goose 3 string

This is box #2 made from a produce crate found under my house in the crawl space full of fruit jars. #1 (a fretless ukulele) and this girl came from that crate. Both have pickups under the bridge inside. I make my own necks with poplar and get great fret boards from Mike Orr.

  • I made a. New video of this old crate wood guitar. Feb. 2019 called Blue Goose.

  • The goose is cool.

  • I,ve made a lot of them. Over 100 by now. About one a week. I,ve got a passion for it. The old crates have good tone wood. You'll like it Gary.
  • Nice build Dave!  Wow!  March of 2012!   How long have these things existed?  ;-)  {JK!}

    I've got a couple wine crates I figure can bee good for several box CBG's ("crate box guitars"?)

  • Looking back to my second box guitar. It still plays good and remains uncracked or bowed..

  • I missed this one before, Dave and I like it.   But with you involved, fowl play is suspected.

  • Check out some old crate wood sometime. The graphics on the old crates is usually fun and the sound they produce is bright. You can make a big box with the width of the wood. 4 inch sides, 8 inch top if you laminate two pieces together. I use the thicker end wood for the shoulder and tail. I've been seeing nice crates in the antique shops for about $20.

  • I like big box' and I can not lie

    You other brothers can't deny...

  • Sweet box.  The old crate wood looks perfect on it.
