  • Thanks Ted.

It was purely unintentional. We originally wanted it for decoration and to keep the strings from cutting into the wood on the left side. We have washers serving the same purpose on the underside of the tail piece. We figured the bridge would sit on the box lid somewhere to the right of the hinge. If you look real close you can see some scratches where we tried that with a bolt. ( It's scratched because I yanked it out from under the strings without loosening them first, arghh.) However, not understanding fully what scale length means, using a bolt there means a shorter scale than what we had set out for. So now the hinge is the bridge. Probably not the best way to handle it but, it is one way. We think it's pretty cool as well.

Thanks to you and others here at this site we're learning much more than we could have on our own. Our next one should be a piece of cake!
